Putrajaya City, Malaysia’s planned federal administrative center, was established in 1995 and is known as the “Intelligent Garden City.” With 38% of its landscape dedicated to parks, lakes, and wetlands, it balances green spaces with government, commercial, and residential areas. Key greening initiatives include Southeast Asia’s largest freshwater lake, urban farming programs, and rooftop gardens. Aiming to be a green city by 2025, the Putrajaya Master Plan includes pedestrian walkways, bike lanes, and inter-park transport. The challenge lies in balancing rapid urbanization with sustainable land use to protect resources and biodiversity while accommodating population growth.
